Ultrasonic humidifier can replace moisture in the air in room to offer comfortable environment. However, what if the ultrasonic humidifier breaks down? Can we repair it?
How the humidifier works. It creates pressure waves in the water that are gradually released into the air by using a membrane. The pressure waves are strong enough that water particles will be broken from humidifier’s built-in reservoir apart into a cool vapor. Then, this device emits this fine mist into the air.
Examine the humidifier. If the control light is green, the water tank is full and the reservoir below the main water tank is full, you can check the membrane. If lime scales, minerals or a drowned insect block the membrane, there will no water vapor or very little vapor.
Turn on the humidifier, and then remove the main water tank without touching anything inside. The membrane and humidifier are OK if you see little drops jumping out of the water and fog created above the water surface. Here, there might be something on the outlets.
Identify the membrane by unplugging the humidifier and looking into the inside tank, and look for a round rubber plate in a circular frame. Examine the membrane. Examine the particulates from the water and lime scale. It cannot generate a pressure wave strong enough to create a vapor once the membrane collects enough debris.
Get all the particulates out of the membrane and the space between the membrane and the frame by cleaning the inner water tank. Use a stream of water from the tap or water hose to wash it to avoid the electrical parts inside the box. Place the parts of the freshly cleaned humidifier together and then turn it on.
- It is recommended to use distilled or purified water in the humidifier, reducing mineral deposits.
- Use a mild vinegar and water solution to clean the humidifier.
- While plugged in, you should not clean your humidifier.
