For hygienic reasons, it is a must for all dental and orthopedic items to be thoroughly cleaned and sterilized. Ultrasonic cleaning can do these. With ultrasonic cleaning, the contaminants are first targeted. Then, the item is cleaned, rinsed, and dried. After cleaning dental and orthopedic items, the items are buffed for further cleaning. This two-step cleaning process ensures proper removal of contaminants. To do this, two tanks are used. These tanks are connected to each other and are placed on top of a beam. Initial cleaning is done in one tank. Then, the items are transferred to the other tank for buffing.
Ultrasonic Cleaning Process
There are four stages of ultrasonic cleaning. Below are these stages.
Prewashing makes use of techniques called surface sweep and turbo filter. Using the turbo filter technique, large-sized contaminants are removed. Greases are also removed in this stage.
2. Ultrasonic Washing
After items undergo prewashing, the ultrasonic washing stage follows. Surface sweep and turbo filter techniques are also used in this stage. Ultrasonic cleaning aims to clean items precisely. This means all contaminants, whether big or small, are targeted and removed. The turbo filter is used by ultrasonic waves to remove contaminants. After ultrasonic waves loosen the bonds of contaminants and remove them from the items, the turbo filter filters the removed contaminants.
3. Cascading Rinsing
As its name suggests, cascading rinsing involves a succession of rinsing processes. Two tanks are used to rinse the items twice. In the setup, there is a crane that transfers the dental items from one tank to another. This crane also moves in oscillating motion. The oscillations are either short strokes or long strokes. If your goal is to rinse the items at the fastest possible time, use short strokes. In case what you want is thorough rinsing, use long strokes. Long strokes cause the cleaning solution to reach every part of the items, even those parts that are hard to reach.
4. Air Knife Drying
This is the last stage of ultrasonic cleaning. In this stage, hot air is utilized to dry items without raising the temperature. A process elevator is used to do this. It controls the flow of the air in order to effectively dry items inside the tank.
