And so, instead of processing mixtures by batch, which takes a lot of time, mixtures are processed through inline transesterification.
Ultrasonic waves play a very important role in the production of biodiesel. They are very effective in mixing ingredients that are hard to combine. To produce biodiesel, ingredients have to be mixed thoroughly. If the ingredients are not properly mixed together, either biodiesel will not be produced or the biodiesel that will be produced will be of low quality.
Ultrasonic waves mix and heat ingredients. When the waves get in contact with the ingredients, they make the ingredients vibrate violently. These vibrations cause cavitation bubbles to form. When the bubbles implode, the ingredients contract and they get mixed together. This activity increases the temperature of the mixture. Although the temperature increase is not much, it is enough to make the mixture react and to make the reaction time shorter than usual. With the help of ultrasonic waves, energy is saved because the temperature does not need to be increased.
